CarSkills.com - Performance Driver Training Resource Centre

Hi there ...

I have always had petrol in my blood, but over the past couple of years I have managed to beg, steal and borrow rides in all kinds of interesting cars with a number of even more interesting people. Before this I don't think I really appreciated how much science and accuracy goes into driving a car well.

Performance Driver Training - Skid Pan in Verviers, BelgiumIt also surprised me how much crap is spouted about the way to drive.  There are numerous urban myths about the effects different techniques and electronic gadgets have on the way a car will behave.

Dispelling them and picking up just a little knowledge of vehicle dynamics has made driving much more enjoyable.  It has also made some sense of the many options available for modifying a car ... something that will save me some cash and disappointment in the future, I am sure!

I get so much enjoyment from this arena that I volunteered to organise a Driver Training program for the Mitsubishi Lancer Register in 2007.  We have organised a couple of highly successful events in the Midlands so far and plan a full driver training calendar in 2009 covering a much wider area of the country.  This project has generated an ever growing database of driver trainers, resources and techniques and I really need a place to list them for future reference ... this is the reason for pulling together this web site.

Work in Progress ...

The site is very much work in progress at the moment. I have started by adding a number of articles and video clips showing many of the driving techniques people ask about on the forums I hang out on.  I have also added a section for driver training event reports.  I'll add stuff to these areas as I produce it.

Comments, questions and tips ...

If you have comments, resources or tips to share that you think would fit in here please feel free to contact us.  Likewise, if you have questions regarding driver training and car setup send them too ... I will try to point you in the right direction if possible, and will also pull together regular articles around frequently asked questions.

The CarSkills Newsletter

The CarSkills electronic newsletter will be issued on an occasional basis.  The plan is to ask driver trainers to contribute regular guest articles for this.  It will also include a driver training calendar, and will carry information on relevant new products and videos.  If you are interested in receiving this, please fill in the form on the left ...

I hope you find the content on this site useful.  Any feedback ... good or bad ... is much appreciated.

Warmest regards
